Gilbert SchoolsThe Gilbert Community School District is a progressive, high performing public school district located just north of Ames. The district covers 48 square miles that incorporates the cities of Gilbert and north Ames, along with rural areas within Story and Boone Counties. The district facilities currently include three school buildings, a PK-4 elementary school, a 5-8 grade middle school and grades 9-12 high school, that provide the learning environment for 1,268 students.
The Gilbert district is unique in many ways. It is a district that includes children who live in the communities of Gilbert and Ames as well as several rural developments, neighborhoods and family farms. The district benefits from outstanding parental and community support as evidenced by the number of parents who volunteer their time in the classrooms, serve on committees, and participate in and support the Gilbert Fine Arts Boosters, Gilbert Athletic Boosters, Gilbert PTO and the Gilbert Education Foundation.
